Tabor Novak obtained a verdict in favor of a hospital after almost two weeks of trial in Conecuh County. The Plaintiff claimed improper nursing care given to an emergency room patient resulted in an accident that caused the plaintiff to suffer severe permanent brain injuries resulting in hemiplegia, drastically decreased mental capacity and a physical state that requires almost constant care. At the time of trial the plaintiff’s accrued medical bills were well in excess of $600,000 and a $13,000,000 Life Care Plan was presented to the jury. Plaintiff’s counsel asked for a verdict of $26,000,000 in closing argument. The jury returned a defense verdict in less than two hours.
