Evans Brittain and Megan McCarthy Secure Back-to-Back Defense Verdicts in Tuscaloosa and Dale Counties

This spring, Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak attorneys Evans Brittain and Megan McCarthy delivered strong results in two Alabama courtrooms.

In April 2025, Evans Brittain and Megan McCarthy successfully defended a homeowner’s insurance company in Tuscaloosa County. The plaintiffs argued that their home was a total loss due to fire damage, but the defense maintained the insurer had properly paid the claim. After a week-and-a-half-long trial, the jury agreed and returned a verdict for just one-tenth of the amount requested by the plaintiffs.

A month later, in May 2025, Evans Brittain secured another win in Dale County. In an automobile accident case, the jury deliberated for less than 30 minutes before returning a verdict in favor of the defense.
