Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak is proud to celebrate the achievements of our own Gerald Swann, who was honored this spring with induction into the St. Clair County Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

Gerald’s athletic journey began at Ashville High School, where he earned varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball from 1976 to 1979. He excelled as a quarterback, safety, pitcher, and third baseman, distinguishing himself as a standout multi-sport athlete.

After high school, Gerald accepted an invitation to walk on to the University of Alabama football team, where he played as a defensive back under the legendary Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. During his three seasons, Alabama secured one National Championship and two SEC Championships. Gerald also made history by becoming the first Ashville player since 1901 to letter in football at Alabama, and the only one to do so during Coach Bryant’s tenure.

Gerald’s dedication, discipline, and drive on the field laid the foundation for his success in the courtroom, where he has built a distinguished career as a leading defense litigator.

We are proud to recognize Gerald’s accomplishments and the legacy of excellence he continues to build both in sports and in law.
