August 2006 - Firm Obtains Dismissal of Jury Verdict for Client in UIM case
On August 28, 2006, the Firm represented a national insurer in a direct action suit for UIM/UM benefits. After a 2 day trial the jury returned a verdict against all defendants. On behalf of the insurer, the firm renewed its motion for judgment as a matter of law, arguing that there was no legally sufficient evidentiary basis to support the verdict. On October 11, 2006, the Mobile County Circuit Court granted the defendant’s renewed judgment as a matter of law finding in defendant’s favor and dismissing all claims against defendant with prejudice. The case was defended by Jay Watkins of the firm’s Baldwin County office.
